Note again that I haven't implied anywhere that this is optimal - but it is a thing. It is also partially why crit is a thing, seeing as he seems to pull crits out of nowhere and can be pushed up to solid impact damage despite being an (overall) low-impact / high DoT character. His core damage obvious comes from bleeds, but when you can also slap out moderate damage via punish alongside his massive bleeds, that is not negligible on anything other than high-prot / high-bleed res targets. They are obviously tanky without it.ī) He gains additional damage on low health and the trinket ramps this up more. I simply gave an example as to why HP trinkets on them leads to more value than putting it on a low-HP class like the FLA, because they have a high base HP-pool thus those percentages lead to more health, whereas your 30'ish HP FLA is gaining barely anything from a +15% HP trinket. Originally posted by иσρButt Goblin:WordsĪ) Note that I didn't say it is good to stack HP on CRU/LEP. There are better things Flagellant can take, like stress resist for Endure and bleed chance. If you're good at telling when it's okay to let a Flagellant stay at mediocre health and when to heal him back up before he gets low, you won't need to risk rolling DB checks at all. In general I don't like DB resist as it'll always have a fail chance, even if Flagellant has the best opportunity to maxmize it. I don't think I would use Martyr's Seal on him either, but the bonuses are much better for Death's Door prevention, so if you want extra DB resist it's okay I guess. still, it's not worthwhile to play him in such a risky fashion. The damage boost at high stress is negligible since Flagellant has very low base damage, although I guess it can add up with the bonuses from low health and Rapturous. Regarding OP's question: Eternity's Collar is a trap, as Flagellant has extremely low base Dodge and will get almost no benefit from the dodge portion of the trinket despite the buff being massive. His crit buff is worthless if you have a bleed trinket and, since most of his damage comes from bleeds, he's going to get very little bonus damage from a crit unless fighting a boss (an enemy is almost certainly going to die before they take 4 actions). Aside from RoS (which is good for an AoE but mediocre overall), Flagellant's attacks have mediocre base CRIT unless he's at low health. Maybe PROT, since that would reduce damage from enemy attacks while letting Flagellant take full damage from Reclaim self-bleeds. That said I don't think I would want to use HP trinkets on Flagellant, if only because he has options for coming back from the brink and isn't the absolute worst class health-wise. Low-HP classes, on the other hand, are in danger of getting burst down by unlucky crits if they take a single non-negligible hit extra HP gives them a much bigger "safety net" before you have to start worrying about their health, even if their max HP isn't improving by that much. It's true that LEP and CRU get the most HP from an HP trinket, but because they're so tanky in the first place it's rarely worthwhile to actually give them defensive boosts. If you're going to stick to one or the other trinkets in the OP, go with whichever one ramps up his damage on low health (I believe it's the collar), but otherwise I'd recommend Bleed Amulet and a tiny dose of accuracy (he doesn't need much due to being pretty damn accurate in general). This is a no-brain choice and is a great trinket for him throughout the game, even late-game - but by then I tend to go for his CC +bleed chance trinket and/or his crystal trinket - both of which reduce his health for the sake of whopping +bleed chance and other perks. My most common early/mid-game trinket for him is the "Bleed Amulet", +bleed chance and +bleed resistance (seeing as his support abilities can bleed himself). The only time you should stack HP on a FLA is if you're using anything other than Exang & Redeem, such as having him as a front-line stress-healer with double-bleeds, HoT and mark. That doesn't mean you shouldn't consider upping it more, but that it can be sacrificed for better trade-offs in a lot of cases. His deathblow resist is also obscenely high even without extra DB trinkets. He also gains perks when on low health, so pushing that healthpool higher doesn't do as much for him as it would other classes seeing as it just means he has to take more overall punishment to gain said perks. The FLA doesn't have a big HP pool, thus +HP trinkets aren't as beneficial to him as, say, a LEP or CRU who have large HP pools that can be made far larger.Ī lot of the FLA's good trinkets come at -HP costs, which I view as fine given it just means a higher liklihood of being put into a situation where he can use his HP-restricted abilities.
